“Mosquito bites can indeed be deadly but the mosquito is already dead now,” he said in response to former minister Rafidah Aziz’s warning that the opposition party could prove deadly to Umno.
The Padang Rengas MP said the matter of whether PPBM was a dangerous “mosquito” as claimed by Rafidah is now a non-issue.
“There is no longer any question of whether the mosquito’s bite is fatal or not.
“I am sure Rafidah would have read the news that this mosquito is dead and so her remark is irrelevant now,” he told FMT.
Yesterday, RoS slapped a “provisional dissolution” on PPBM, citing the party’s failure to furnish required documents and details within the stipulated period.
RoS had sent a notice to PPBM on Feb 28 to provide a report on minutes of meetings of its divisions and branches, as well as the party’s financial report, within 30 days or face the risk of deregistration.
Earlier today, Rafidah, a former Wanita Umno chief, reportedly commented on Nazri’s subsequent mocking of PPBM as a “mosquito party”, by warning that a mosquito’s bite could be fatal.
In his response today, Nazri also sarcastically said he would heed Rafidah’s advice for him not to be arrogant, claiming that she was the same way before.
“She is advising all of us from her own experience. At one time she was also arrogant.
“Then she was dropped as a minister and subsequently lost to her deputy badly,” he said.
He was referring to Rafidah’s failure to defend her Wanita chief post against Shahrizat Abdul Jalil in the Umno general assembly in 2009.
Prior to that defeat she had already been left out of the cabinet following the 2008 general election despite retaining her Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat.
“I will no longer be arrogant after seeing what she went through,” Nazri said.
