PETALING JAYA:
PKR MP Tian Chua today warned that the redelineation report tabled in the Dewan Rakyat will create “super Chinese” and “super Malay” seats in Kuala Lumpur if it is passed, adding that Indian voters could no longer create an impact at the coming polls.

He said traditionally, Indian voters were in almost all 11 constituencies in the federal capital.

“But now, for instance, Indian voters will be placed in Segambut, where most Chinese voters are, and the seat will be won by DAP.

The PKR vice-president said with the redrawing of electoral boundaries in Kuala Lumpur, the Chinese who traditionally support DAP would be moved into DAP strongholds, while Malays would be grouped together in constituencies held by PKR.

“The boundaries are divided based on race. It is not right,” he said.

The PKR seats are in Wangsa Maju, Bandar Tun Razak, Lembah Pantai and Batu. BN holds two parliamentary seats in Setiawangsa and Titiwangsa. The others are held by DAP.

“It is highly unfair and gives an advantage to BN,” Tian Chua said.

He said Malay voters would be grouped together in constituencies held by PKR, such as in Lembah Pantai, where he said there would be an influx of postal voters from Bukit Aman.

Chinese voters in DAP strongholds

Tian Chua said the Chinese voters in his Batu constituency would also be moved to Kepong.

“Lembah Pantai Chinese voters will be moved to Seputeh while Chinese voters from Bandar Tun Razak will be moved to Cheras,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chinese voters from Titiwangsa will be shifted to Segambut.

Traditionally, Kepong, Cheras, Seputeh and Segambut are DAP strongholds.

“With this arrangement, the voices of Indians will become irrelevant, especially those placed in DAP areas and want to vote for BN,” Tian Chua said.

Prime Minister Najib Razak tabled the motion on the redelineation of constituencies in the Dewan Rakyat today, as opposition MPs joined hundreds outside Parliament to protest against the move.

The protesters cited a pending legal suit as well as procedural lapses on the part of the Election Commission.
