Kit Siang issued the challenge after Koh had made a remark about the veteran politician’s support for former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Koh had said Kit Siang’s support for Mahathir went against what the DAP leader had said about former Penang chief minister Lim Chong Eu a long time ago.
Kit Siang had described Chong Eu, who was 71 then, as being “too old” to be chief minister.
“It has been quite some time since we last heard from former Penang CM Koh Tsu Koon but it is a pity he could not come out of the box of a petty politician to become a statesman.
“I believe that if Chong Eu is still alive today, he would have left the dark side and crossed over to support the Pakatan Harapan campaign to save Malaysia from its trajectory of a failed, rogue and kleptocratic state.
“When will Koh Tsu Koon leave the dark side and join the forces for light, justice and moderation in the country?” Kit Siang asked at a press conference at Dewan Sri Pinang today.
Kit Siang said he had proved that age did not matter when he zip-lined around the Komtar tower at a dizzying height of 239 metres last month, with “just one rope” attached to his body.
“Koh is very much younger. Perhaps he would like to experience Komtar’s Gravityz also?” Lim said in reference to the new attraction at Komtar which is touted as the world’s tallest rope course.
At Gerakan’s 50th anniversary celebrations here recently, Koh had commented on Kit Siang and the opposition.
He had sarcastically said that he would return to politics when he was 92, in an obvious reference to Mahathir’s age.
“Chong Eu was only 71 then and Kit Siang said Chong Eu was too old.
“Kit Siang also turned 77 this year, how about the 92-year-old?
“I am not saying Mahathir is too old. But when people ask if I would return to politics, I tell them, let’s wait until I am 92, then I would make a comeback,” Koh was reported as saying.
