Deputy IGP to serve another year after retirement, says Zahid

The home minister says the ministry is awaiting consent from the king on the matter.

PUTRAJAYA:
Noor Rashid Ibrahim will be contracted to serve as the deputy inspector-general of police for a year, even after his mandatory retirement on March 17, says Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid, who is also the home minister, said the ministry was awaiting the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, on the matter.

He was speaking at the ministry’s monthly assembly and presentation of the 2017 excellent service awards here today.

Noor Rashid was appointed the deputy IGP in December 2014 and is due for mandatory retirement at the age of 60 on March 17.

Noor Rashid, who hails from Yan, Kedah, holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from Universiti Malaya. He joined the Royal Malaysian Police as an assistant superintendent of police in 1984.
