In the 2.45pm incident, Paya Terubong voluntary firemen said freak winds ripped a few strips off the roofing for Sunshine Farlim Mall, exposing the aisles underneath.
The incident caused a slight panic among shoppers doing their last-minute shopping for Chinese New Year.
Mall workers set up a cordon around the affected area.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
Strangely, no other shops in the area were affected.
