SHAH ALAM:
Police shot dead two robbers attempting to break into a house in Jalan Platinum 7/37A, Section 7, here, early today.

Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said another suspect managed to escape in the 4am incident.

He said a team from the Serious Crime Division at the Selangor police headquarters rushed to the scene after receiving information from the public at 3.40am about a house break-in.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the policemen saw three suspects. They told the suspects to surrender but two of them armed with a machete and ‘celoret’ (a sickle-like tool) attacked the policemen who were forced to open fire.

“The two were killed at the scene, and further checks found that they did not have any identification on them. We are also using dogs to track down the suspect who escaped,” he said in a statement, here, today.

Fadzil said police were currently trying to identify the two dead men, who were in their 30’s.

“We are also investigating the link between the three suspects and seven other house break-ins which occurred in the area since the beginning of the year,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated for attempted murder.
