KUALA LUMPUR:
Abdul Rahman Dahlan says he will not be surprised if Rafizi Ramli’s expose tomorrow contains more lies.

His retort came after Rafizi was forced to back-track earlier today on his allegation that the federal minister’s brother was awarded a lucrative contract for the Expo Negaraku 2017 project.

“Today he ‘kantoi’,” the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said, using the Malay term to describe the Pandan MP’s blunder when it was found that the person Rafizi had named was not Rahman’s brother.

“I would like to see what lies he has tomorrow,” Rahman said at a press conference, where he also replayed the Facebook live video of Rafizi’s expose.

Barely two hours after Rafizi went live on Facebook alleging a huge government contract was awarded to a company headed by Rahman’s sibling, whom he named as Raslan Dahlan, the PKR vice-president was forced to remove the posts after finding out that Raslan was not Rahman’s elder brother.

“I have checked. Raslan is not Rahman’s brother,” Rafizi told FMT, minutes after removing his video which sparked strong comments from Rahman on Twitter.

However, Rafizi said it did not mean that he was retracting his allegations, even adding that he would have another live session tomorrow on Facebook to focus on the nature of the contract.

“We shall continue the live expose tomorrow to focus on the contract which was awarded without calling for tenders,” he said.

In a press conference at the Invoke headquarters here earlier today, Rafizi had claimed the company that landed the contract for the Expo Negaraku 2017 was helmed by Raslan, whom he identified as Rahman’s brother.

He added that the contract for the exhibition came under the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), the entity under the Prime Minister’s Department headed by Rahman.

Rahman subsequently took to Twitter, calling the Pandan MP “a compulsive serial liar that isn’t afraid of Allah”.

“He confidently said he had done his investigations and had solid proof that Raslan, who was the CEO of Pico Integrated Exhibit Sdn Bhd, is my brother.

“Raslan Dahlan is not my brother. Rafizi has evil intentions.

“Again, Rafizi has invented a huge lie in his mission to slander me, the government and Prime Minister Najib Razak,” said Rahman, adding that he was mulling legal action.

Later, during the press conference, the Kota Belud MP said he was prepared to address issues relating to the cost and the tender.

“I will tell all, but let us wait for his press conference tomorrow. Funds spent by the government cannot be concealed. Audits will reveal everything.”
