PETALING JAYA: A teenager in Melaka died after he was allegedly beaten up by his uncle and two other men for stealing money from his grandfather.
The victim, who was identified as M Arunasalam, was taken to the Melaka General Hospital on Wednesday after passers-by found him unconscious at a bus stop in Ayer Keroh, theSun reported.
However, the 16-year-old died within half an hour of arriving at the hospital.
A video of the assault which went viral on social media showed the victim, wearing only a pair of trousers, being repeatedly whipped by at least two men.
The men used a garden hose and a stick to beat him, and appeared oblivious to his screams.
In the video, the boy admitted to stealing RM4,000 from his grandfather which he said he had used to treat his friends.
Melaka police said the case had been classified as murder.
