Amar today criticised Mahathir and the weakness of PPBM to solve the registration issues of PH with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) as proof they could not govern the country.
Amar, who is also the Kelantan deputy menteri besar, said PPBM did not have good leaders, like the people hoped for, as it could not even solve its registration issue.
Zaid questioned what Amar had done for Kelantan to give him the right to question Mahathir.
“Of all people, what has Mohd Amar done in Kelantan other than logging timber and clearing up the forests?
“He has no business talking about Tun’s ability to govern the country,” he told FMT.
The DAP member said Amar sounded just like an Umno puppet.
“He sounds just like an Umno puppet because he knows very well the registration would always be a problem when you are dealing with Barisan Nasional.
“He is out of place to criticise Tun like that.
“What has the PH registration got to do with governing the country? His statement is just ridiculous.”
Mahathir is also chairman of PPBM which, together with DAP, PKR and Amanah, form Pakatan Harapan.
PH submitted its draft constitution to the RoS on July 24 and its logo on July 28.
Mahathir was yesterday told by home ministry secretary-general Alwi Ibrahim that the pact’s registration as a formal coalition had hit a snag due to problems plaguing DAP and PPBM.
DAP held a re-election recently for its central executive committee following a dispute over the 2012 line-up.
Although the special congress has already been held, as directed by RoS and the new line-up elected, the party has yet to submit its report for recognition by the RoS.
PPBM, meanwhile, has failed to conduct the necessary annual general meetings (AGMs) at both the branch and central levels with the minimum required quorum.
PH had submitted its draft constitution to the RoS on July 24 and its logo on July 28.
However, RoS instructed PH to use its full name “Pakatan Harapan” instead of just “Harapan” in its logo.
The coalition amended the logo and submitted the new version to complement its earlier application.
