Rela director-general Zulkifli Abidin claimed the money was offered to the three to withdraw their police report against him.
He said the man had used a middleman to call the trio’s platoon leader with his offer on Sunday.
The three Rela men were allegedly assaulted on Friday after they told the 29-year-old Datuk Seri to move his car which was obstructing traffic.
The incident happened during a religious ceremony at the Kout Ong Yah temple in Kampung Baru Ampang about 6.30am.
“We will not be intimidated and will do no such thing,” Zulkifli told the news portal.
“If he committed the crime, he should be prepared to face the consequences,” he said at a ceremony to present certificates of commendation to the three Rela members involved.
Zulkifli commended the trio for being firm in doing their duty.
He believed there was still a lack of understanding of Rela’s duties and powers. He said this could have led to the misunderstanding.
He hoped police will take swift action.
The three Rela men made a police report at the Ampang police station after the alleged assault and sought treatment at a nearby hospital for some bruises.
Zulkifli told the news portal the suspect had also wanted to meet him and threatened to hurt any Rela member if the meeting did not take place.
“However, when we sent our honorary member, Datuk Seri Michael Chong, to meet him, he was nowhere to be found,” he said.
It is not known if Zulkifli had made a fresh police report on the compensation offer.
Police have urged the Datuk Seri to surrender himself for proper investigations to be carried out.
