
Members of the public were seen outside the compound as early as 7.30am, taking pictures and dropping donations into a special box placed in front of the building.
The school’s principal, Mohd Zahid Mahmood said the donations came from people all over the country.
“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), I’m grateful… I would like to thank members of the public for dropping by and making the donations personally,” he told Bernama when met at the school here today.
In addition, police personnel and Civil Defence Force members were also spotted manning the area.
Traffic along Jalan Keramat Ujung, which leads to the school, was congested as motorists slowed down to catch a glimpse of the razed building.
A total of 21 students and two wardens-cum-teachers died in the fire which occurred at 5.15am on Thursday.
