PETALING JAYA: Police have detained a 34-year-old man in connection with the murder of a policeman in USJ, Subang Jaya.

Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor said the suspect, who hails from Sibu, Sarawak, was arrested at 1am after giving his statement to the police.

“We are obtaining a remand order for the suspect today,” Mazlan said in a statement.

He urged the public against speculating over the arrest as it could affect investigations.

Yesterday, Lance Corporal Valentino Mesa, 29, was found stabbed and shot at a community police station in USJ.

Valentino, a Sarawakian who had served in the force for seven years, was found lying prone at the inquiry counter of the station where he had been on duty.

Mazlan said Valentino was found by members of a patrol unit who had returned to the station at 3.25am.

Valentino’s gun was also missing.

His body was flown back to Sarawak yesterday.

He leaves behind a wife.
