“We believe the case is not connected to the former attorney-general,” Ampang OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias told The Star when contacted.
He added that the victim, known only as Mustafa, was in stable condition and urged the public to refrain from speculation.
The incident was said to have occurred at 9.20am yesterday, when the 40-year-old was standing at the front door of his house.
Two men, who were not wearing crash helmets, rode up to his house on a motorcycle.
One of them called out the victim’s name while the other fired a shot.
The China Press said the shooting appeared to be a warning to the victim as he was shot only in the leg.
