Nik Nazmi says Kelantan PKR Youth chief sacked at members’ request

Nik Nazmi denies Hafidz was removed because he favoured cooperation with PAS and opposed the party’s directive for state leaders to quit appointed posts in Kelantan administration.

PETALING JAYA: Kelantan PKR Youth chief Mohd Hafidz Rizal Amran was sacked from the post at the request of the state’s youth wing, says PKR Youth national leader Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

He said the decision was made after a meeting between the central and state PKR Youth leaders last week.

Nik Nazmi did not attend the meeting as he was abroad.

“The youth central leadership went to Kelantan to meet the state leaders, who included Hafidz Rizal. After receiving feedback from the state youth leadership, the party president was informed and a decision to replace the state youth leader was made,” he told FMT.

Nik Nazmi denied that Hafidz was sacked because he favoured cooperation with PAS and opposed the central leadership’s directive to the party’s political appointees in the Kelantan administration to quit their posts.

“The decision has nothing to do with that. It was made on the request of the state youth leadership,” he said.

Hafidz has confirmed he was told of his removal from his post by Nik Nazmi in a Whatsapp message this morning.

Nik Nazmi explained the Whatsapp message was an advance notice while an official letter would be sent to Hafidz.

“The termination takes effect today, which is why I sent him the Whatsapp message with the letter to follow,” he added.

Last week, the PKR Kelantan committee issued a memorandum calling on Hafidz and state PKR chairman Ab Aziz Ab Kadir to step down from their posts, and the stand was supported by the PKR Kota Bharu director of elections, Ahmad Syauqey Abdul Ghani.
