
A heavy downpour earlier which turned the event site into a field of mud did not deter the 92-year-old former prime minister, who was welcomed by more than 1,000 supporters with shouts of “Hidup Tun”.
Mahathir arrived with his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Ali.

In his speech, he reiterated his message to the people to reject Barisan Nasional (BN) and its leader Najib Razak in the 14th general election (GE14).
“We don’t want this tyrannical government, this dictatorship that oppresses the people,” he said to loud applause.

Also present at the event were DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, Amanah vice-president Husam Musa, PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, PPBM deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, PPBM Youth chief Syed Sadiq Syed Abdul Rahman, PKR Kelantan chairman Ab Aziz Ab Kadir, Amanah Kelantan chairman Wan Rahim Wan Abdullah and DAP member Zaid Ibrahim.

PH formed its presidential council in July and submitted a list of its office-bearers, constitution and logo to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for registration.
The RoS asked for changes to the logo which was to be re-submitted after the amendments.
PH, which comprises PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM, plans to contest GE14 under a common symbol.
