“Be prepared for it,” state PAS commissioner Sallehin Mukhyi warned at a news conference here.
Wan Azizah won the Kajang state seat in a by-election in 2014 with a 5,379 majority while Azmin, the menteri besar, retained his Bukit Antarabangsa state seat in GE13 by a margin of 4,044 votes.
Azmin also represents the Gombak parliamentary constituency which he won in 2008 and retained in GE13 with a majority of 4,734 votes.
Sallehin said PAS had always been keen to contest in many seats in Selangor but it gave way in some areas to PKR after the latter was formed.
“So, it is right for PAS to take back the seats we gave PKR, including Gombak,” he said.
He said even in the case of nominating the Selangor menteri besar after the last general election, the PAS president suggested the post be given to PKR, although PAS won 15 seats, one more than PKR, he said.
Sallehin, who is the Sabak assemblyman, said his party would field candidates in at least 42 state seats in Selangor in GE14.
He said PAS was ready to face 3-cornered or more contests.
“If 3-cornered contests happened in Selangor, it is not the fault of PAS. DAP and Amanah were the ones who issued statements wanting to field candidates in PAS seats,” he said.
According to him, the decision to contest in at least 42 state seats in Selangor had been endorsed by the PAS national leadership, and he was confident the party would be victorious in them.
