SHAH ALAM: The cafeteria at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) near here has been ordered to close for 15 days from Friday following reports of unhygienic practices during food preparation.
Selangor Health Department director Dr Zailan Adnan said the order was issued according to Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.
The notice of closure was issued by the Klang District Health Office (PKD) at 2pm following an inspection carried out after a 32-second video clip showing a rat feasting in a vegetable container at the cafeteria, went viral on social media.
“The PKD will carry out a thorough investigation into the case,” Zailan told Bernama here today.
She said the cafeteria might resume operations earlier if it undertook an immediate clean-up operation and if the PKD was satisfied with the level of cleanliness at the premises.
