The man was caught red-handed and splashed with water when he coughed while spying on the woman in a toilet at the Ampang Hospital here two weeks ago.
Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali passed the sentence on 36-year-old Raju after he pleaded guilty to the charge of outraging the modesty of the factory worker at the hospital’s toilet at 11.45pm on July 9.
The charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of five years or fine, or both, upon conviction.
The court ordered the man to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on July 10.
In mitigation, Raju, who was not represented, appealed for a lighter punishment as he was just a scrap metal collector.
Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim, however, pressed for a deterrent punishment as a lesson for the accused and others.
