
The rural and regional development minister said DAP’s attitude was contrary to Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto in which one of the agendas is to eliminate corruption in 100 days if the opposition wins the 14th general election.
“Barisan Nasional (BN) has been accused of many things, including corrupt practices, but all BN-led state governments have already signed the pledge.
“Even we in the ministry have signed it,” he told reporters when asked for his comments after launching the state-level “Anugerah Desa Perdana” presentation for the central and southern zones here today.
On Saturday, MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad said MACC regretted Penang’s refusal to sign the pledge which is a commitment to combat corruption, the country’s number one enemy.
On July 12, the Penang state government had described the principle of “Competency, Accountability and Transparency” which it adopted in 2008 as more effective in preventing corruption and abuse of power.
