Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said at least 20 members of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) had been transferred out.
“We have already made some changes in the lower level of the NCID, leaving just a few more.
“I would like to state that PDRM will make a major overhaul at the top level, probably after Aidilfitri,” he told reporters after a PDRM “Singgah Sahur” programme with the IGP here today.
Khalid stressed that transfers in the PDRM were a normal thing, but “unusual transfers” were rare.
When asked about the case of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) student Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, who died at Serdang Hospital on June 1, he said, “We are still carrying out investigations and when completed, we will present the case to the attorney-general.”
Marine Cadet Officer Zulfarhan Osman, 21, was brought in to the hospital with his body covered in bruises and burn marks, believed to be the result of physical torture.
Following the incident, the police remanded 36 UPNM students and four Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) students aged between 20 and 21.
The four Uniten students were later released on police bail. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
