BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the party would announce its candidate by June 20.
Tengku Adnan said the election machinery will be handled by Sarawak BN, with backing from the national BN.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Pavilion KL’s “Let’s Go Raya” celebration here today.
The by-election for the state seat of Pujut in Sarawak will be held on July 4, with nominations set for June 20.
The Pujut by-election was called after its incumbent, Dr Ting Tiong Choon, was removed by the Sarawak assembly on May 12 for having Australian citizenship.
In the May 2016 state polls, Ting won the Pujut seat with a majority of 1,759 votes in a four-cornered fight against direct BN candidate Hii King Chiong, PAS’ Jofri Jaraie and Fong Pau Teck, who contested as an independent candidate.
Fong, a former Pujut assemblyman, contested after DAP decided not to field him in the election.
