KUALA LUMPUR:
The government has appointed Idris Jala as an independent party to scrutinise the suspension of the Felda Global Ventures (FGV) chief executive officer, chief financial officer (CEO) and two others by the board.

Idris, a former cabinet minister and now Pemandu Associates Sdn Bhd president and CEO, has been asked to establish the facts of the case and recommend the way forward regarding the decision.

Yesterday, the FGV board asked CEO Zakaria Arshad and chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha to take a leave of absence.

Also asked to do the same were FGV Trading CEO Ahmad Salman Omar and Delima Oil Products senior general manager Kamarzaman Abd Karim.

The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement today, said the relevant parties had agreed to the appointment of Idris.

Those consulted were Felda chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad and FGV chairman Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, Zakaria and Ahmad Tifli.

Felda is the single biggest shareholder of FGV with a 34% stake.
