
Perak CID chief Supt Lee Ewe Kiang said the trio were arrested to help investigations by the Taiping commercial crime division over a police report on the scheme which was lodged in Kamunting.
“They were arrested to help investigations over a police report on the scheme which was lodged in Kamunting,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Taiping district police chief ACP Harrith Kam Abdullah said the trio were currently at the Taiping district police headquarters’ lock-up after arriving from Penang at 7.30pm.
He said they were arrested after a man lodged a report at the Kamunting police station recently involving a loss of RM4,700.
Earlier, the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court freed the men, aged 28 to 29 years, on police bail.
The alleged cheating scam via the JJPTR investment scheme involved RM1.7 billion.
