He said it is not fair for him to comment on PAS’s electoral plans since there is no clarity on the final figure.
Saifuddin was asked by the media about PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan naming Batu and Lembah Pantai in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur as parliamentary seats in which PAS wanted to field candidates. The two seats are currently held by Chua Tian Chang aka Tian Chua and Nurul Izzah Anwar, respectively, of the PKR.
Yesterday, Nasrudin said his party might contest in 100 parliamentary constituencies in GE14 and it was confident of winning at least 40 seats.
He had named Putrajaya and Labuan (now held by Umno) and Pakatan Harapan-held constituencies in the KL FT — Titiwangsa, Bandar Tun Razak, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Lembah Pantai, Batu and Segambut – as among the seats PAS was interested to contest in.
However, Saifuddin pointed out that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had said his party would win at least 40 parliamentary seats and capture five states in GE14.
Then, in April, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad declared that PAS would contest in 80 parliamentary seats, focusing on those currently held by PKR and DAP.
“Between 80 and 100 is a big margin of 20, so I hope PAS will clarify how many seats they actually want to contest in,” said Saifuddin.
