Representatives from TV3, Primeworks Studios CEO Ahmad Izham Omar and presenter Azizul Ammar Abu Hassan made the personal apology to the former national sprinter at a meeting at the Grand Palace Hotel in Miri, Sarawak, yesterday.
However, they were rebuffed with Watson telling them: “I do not accept your apology.”
“I cannot say anything more on this because I am really mad and disappointed as I cannot accept the actions made by the TV host (presenter).
“I hope that this will not happen again in the near future to people in this peaceful country.
“Today I do not accept this apology and maybe someday, if I am more at peace (with it), then I will accept it,” Watson was quoted as having said during the meeting.
In the programme called “Sukan Tak Sentral”, which was aired on Sunday, Azizul read a news report from last July about Watson’s 100-metre record being broken. However the presenter also mocked Watson’s father’s name by making animal sounds.
Yesterday, Watson filed a police report at the Miri central police station against TV3, Primeworks Studio and Azizul.
He said he was also considering taking legal action against all three parties on the matter.
“I am still angry. Not only did they belittle myself and my family but also the people of Sarawak.
“This is not something that should be taken lightly. They must be held responsible for such folly,” Watson was quoted as saying by the Sarawak-based daily.
He was accompanied by representatives from nine NGOs and political bodies, including the Sarawak Dayak Association, Gagasan Anak Dayak Sarawak and Lambir branch Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, the report said.
