
He claimed PAS was not the least bit confused in determining its position despite various quarters questioning which coalition it wants to work with.
In a statement today, he said PAS was not with PH because the coalition members were at odds in their principles and concepts with PAS.
The Marang MP said there were PH leaders who continually opposed Islam, either openly or covertly, or in an opportunistic manner.
As for BN, he said PAS could not work with the coalition, although it had done so before. He said BN was ruling the country, bearing a heavy burden and “disease”.
Furthermore, he said there were also barriers present to achieve PAS’ policies and objectives.
“To be together with BN is like carrying on the shoulder a life monitor lizard (biawak),” he said, adding that joining PH would mean dealing with a bigger “biawak” and a worse disease.
Hadi said this was the case although some of those who had created problems in BN had left and joined PH.
There has been speculation that PAS would join or cooperate with Umno-led BN, especially in the wake of Umno’s apparent willingness to cooperate with PAS over Hadi’s proposed shariah amendment bill in the Dewan Rakyat which seeks higher punitive powers for shariah courts.
Umno and PAS, the two main parties for Malays in the country, also shared the same stage on issues involving the Muslims, such as the oppression of Myanmar’s ethnic Rohingya.
On March 22, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng predicted that PAS was likely to have a “BN+1” coalition plan for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14),
“In offering our cooperation, PAS has remained firm to its policies and objectives,” Hadi said, adding that members also obeyed his policies.
