Penang’s Bagan Umno division chief Shaik Hussein Mydin said he would gladly fork out the money to prove PPBM had lied when it said almost 200 Umno members from Kampung Tok Sani – a village under the Bagan division – had quit their party to join the new political party.
“Until today, Penang PPBM has yet to publish the details of those members,” he told FMT.
“In fact, Bagan PPBM coordinator Shaharudin Saad had said he could even show the forms and the houses of the former Tok Sani Umno members.
“It was a gimmick. He was merely trying to deflect attention from his inability to do so.
“Hence, I am offering them RM200,000 in exchange for names and IC numbers of those he alleged had left Umno. If they can’t, then I’m only asking them to donate RM200 to a mosque in Bagan.”
The Kampung Tok Sani villagers, represented by Ahmad Shamsuddin — who claimed he had been an Umno member for nearly 50 years — were reported to have submitted their PPBM membership forms at an event in the village on Sunday.
Shaik reiterated that most of the alleged former Umno members were not from the village, a conclusion he made based on the observation of two Bagan Umno division members who were also present at the event.
He said Penang PPBM would not be able to prove its claim and they were only trying to fool the public as well as the party’s chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Anyway, my offer stands for seven days beginning today.
“If they fail, I advise them to close shop and inform their boss, Mahathir, that the public is not stupid enough to fall for their tricks.”
