On his Facebook page early this morning, Fahmi, who is facing two charges under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for posting images of Prime Minister Najib Razak in clown makeup, said one ‘Inspector R’ made sure he was off the blacklist.
The graphic artist said Inspector R was the same officer who opened investigation papers on his ‘Clown Najib’ case last year and put him on the blacklist.
“I knew I had to find the source of the problem. So I investigated and found out Inspector R was the reason for me being on the blacklist.
“So I thought Inspector R would be the same person who could get me off,” he said.
Fahmi said Inspector R, whose real name was not revealed, was always professional when carrying out his duties and never treated him like a criminal.
He said although the inspector had informed him earlier he could not meet him at the airport yesterday morning to settle his immigration issue due to work, the police officer eventually turned up.
Coincidentally, Inspector R had to be at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport that morning to pick up his superior, Fahmi said.
“How I got through immigration was a combination of effort and luck. If the inspector did not make it to the airport, I would had been stuck,” he said.
Fahmi said he had just checked in his bags when he got a surprise text message from the inspector, saying he was on his way.
He said when the inspector met him at the international departure gate, he was told “everything is settled” because the inspector had gone straight to the Immigration office at the airport to make sure his name was struck off the blacklist.
“It turned out that since Friday, Inspector R had made sure SB (police special branch) cancelled my name from their system and sent Immigration a report on the matter for confirmation.
“Today (yesterday), all he had to do was follow up with Immigration to make sure they had taken my name off the blacklist. Everything went according to procedure,” he said.
Fahmi added Inspector R waited at the departure entrance until he was cleared at the Immigration auto gate to travel.
In a post later this morning, Fahmi also clarified that his earlier posting, “Bye bye Najib”, on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, was not meant that he was not coming back.
“Many seem to be confused and think I am not coming back … what more since there were news reports titled “Clown Najib artist has left (terlepas) for Taiwan.
“Clearly, they did not read my earlier posting about my Immigration drama and why I am in Taipei,” he said.
