Reward for info on elephants killed for ivory

The Sabah Wildlife Department will give RM10,000 for accurate information leading to the arrest and conviction of the poachers that killed two elephants for ivory.

The Sabah Wildlife Department has offered a reward to those who can provide accurate information on the killing of two rare elephant species by poachers for their ivory near Segama River recently.

Its assistant director, Dr Sen Nathan, said the department would give a cash reward of RM10,000 to those who could give accurate information on the incident.

“The reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the poachers,” he said when contacted by Bernama here yesterday.

Members of the public with accurate information related the incident can contact the Sabah Wildlife Department at 013-5441980.

In December, Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC) and Wildlife Protection Unit (WRU) found two wild bull elephants killed by poachers for their ivory, near Sungai Segama in Kawag Forest Reserve.
