“Pakatan Harapan leaders keep attacking us and make all sorts of accusations against us. Then they want to ask for our cooperation. But how can we (if they attack us), which is why we are asking them to stop attacking us.”
In his speech at PAS’ ceramah last night, Tuan Ibrahim said in politics, any form of cooperation required manners and that no cooperation could happen if political allies attacked each other.
He said PAS was being attacked every day, and that Amanah was sending signals on a daily basis that it would stand in all PAS seats and that it wanted to wrest PAS-led Kelantan and Barisan Nasional-held Terengganu, which is being eyed by PAS.
The ceramah, which saw Tuan Ibrahim share a stage with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Muhyiddin Yassin and PKR central committee member Sivarasa Rasiah, was attended by over 1,000 people.
The ceramah had been billed by PAS as a step towards forming a new opposition bloc in Selangor, involving the three parties. Pakatan Harapan partners DAP and Amanah were not invited for the ceramah.
Tuan Ibrahim lamented that PAS was constantly being accused of working with Umno, even though the party had strongly refuted accusations that it received RM90 million from Umno.
Last week, PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad had described PAS as “confused” but said the party had to be given space to state its stand as to whether it wanted to cooperate with the opposition alliance which included DAP and Amanah, or join forces with Barisan Nasional.
Tuan Ibrahim however reiterated PAS’ stand that it would not cooperate with Umno, in line with the PAS Syura Council’s decision and this had been echoed repeatedly by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said PAS’ stand against cooperating with Umno was in line with PPBM’s struggle and that PPBM would act as a bridge between PAS and other opposition parties.
“PAS supports us, which is why we are sharing a stage tonight. I have received Tuan Ibrahim’s message that they will not work with Umno. PPBM can work with PAS and Pakatan Harapan and I urge that this effort to cooperate be continued.”
