IPOH: A teenage motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a lorry on the North-South Highway, near Tanjung Malim early today.
The victim, Muhamad Khairul, 17, died at the scene from a severe head injury.
Muallim district police chief Supt Ahmad Mat Isa said Khairul and a friend on another motorcycle were travelling from Kedah to Klang, Selangor.
“The incident occurred at about 2.30am when the lorry (driver) was trying to overtake the victim, who was riding along the emergency lane, when the motorcycle suddenly moved closer to the right,” he said in a statement here today.
The victim’s 16-year-old friend, the lorry driver and the co-driver escaped injuries.
Ahmad said initial investigations revealed that the two motorcyclists did not have driving licences.
