Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh said the cars were found to have been sold off to third parties in Selangor.
“We retrieved the Volkswagen Vento yesterday and will be retrieving the Proton Saga later today,” he said.
He said the policeman, who is believed to have masterminded the thefts, will be charged today.
Amar Singh said the main suspect, a lance corporal in his 30s, was with the force for 10 years. He was attached to Bukit Aman and will be suspended immediately pending the outcome of the trial.
The other four suspects are still being remanded as witnesses and their involvement is still being investigated.
The cars belonged to two officers, a deputy superintendent and an assistant superintendent, from the Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department.
