PETALING JAYA:
Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar is unfazed over threats made by controversial cartoonist “Zunar”, saying that he had no qualms about meeting the latter in court.

“He (Zunar) said he will challenge me in court. So, let him challenge me lah,” he said in a text message to FMT when contacted.

The IGP was responding to Zunar who recently said he would file a suit against Khalid for issuing a travel ban against him.

Earlier today, Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque, said he was stopped from boarding his 3pm flight to Singapore, where he was scheduled to attend a forum.

He explained that immigration officers had received a directive from Khalid, who had blacklisted Zunar from travelling overseas for “special reasons”.

Zunar added that he would consult his lawyer for the next appropriate move, especially as he has future engagements overseas.

Zunar is well known for his cartoons that mock the Barisan Nasional government and the allegedly corrupt national institutions.

He is facing nine sedition charges, among others for alleging that former Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy conviction was marred by judicial bias and government intervention.
