Dr Vida slapped with 32 charges under GST Act

Sessions Court sets bail of RM1.76 million and orders her passport surrendered.

Cosmetic millionaire Dr Hasmiza Othman, better known as Dr Vida, was charged in the Sessions Court here today with 32 charges under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act 2014.

However, she pleaded not guilty to all charges after they were read out to her before judge Murtazadi Amran.

Hasmiza, 45, who is the owner of Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd, was charged with failing to submit GST statements or settle GST payments of about RM4.2 million from April 2015 till July 2016.

Murtazadi set bail at RM1.76 million for all charges and ordered the businesswoman to surrender her passport to the court.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutors Raja Rozela Raja Toran and Farah Ezlin Yusop Khan, while Hasmiza was represented by lawyers Khairilazwar Khalil and Syed Ahmad Syed Abas.

The court set Nov 15 for mention.
