A family representative, who declined to be named, said they only found out about the donation drive yesterday evening and described it as irresponsible.
“We deny allowing anyone to collect donations. If you want to help, please come and see us first.
“Don’t use the incident as a way to make money as it will tarnish the good name of our family, especially the wife of the deceased,” he told reporters when met here today.
In the 11.30am incident on Sunday, factory supervisor Izwan Isa, 39, and his daughter, Nur Zulaikha, 5, were killed after being hit by a go-kart while watching the race in Jalan Sukpa, Indera Mahkota.
It was reported that three of the go-karts grazed each other, causing one of them to skid and crash onto the right side of the track.
The deceased’s wife, Siti Suhaiza Seman, 38, and their eldest child, Muhammad Izz Daniel, 7, were injured.
A source said Siti Suhaiza was still in trauma while Muhammad Izz Daniel was expected to be discharged from Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital soon.
The family has yet to decide on action against the organiser or insurance claim as priority was to ensure that Siti Suhaiza was in a stable condition.
“I hope the public will understand and respect the privacy of the family.
“Give them time to settle the issues one by one.”
