KUALA LUMPUR:The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) is currently reviewing closely the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) rates as part of its role as an independent regulatory body responsible for overseeing and regulating economic matters pertaining to the national civil aviation industry.

Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said Mavcom’s decision would take into account public views, as well as the players within the airline industry, as the needs of travellers remain a priority.

“The government is fully cognisant of the need for careful consideration pertaining to any possible increase in PSC rates,” Liow said in a statement today.

In addition, the PSC rates will continue to be in line with international standards to ensure Malaysia’s airports are competitive within the region.

Liow also urged the public not to speculate on this matter since no new rates have been determined as yet.
