
Chief secretary Zuki Ali confirmed the appointment in a statement today.
“The appointment, sanctioned by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, is for a three-year term in accordance with Article 139(4) of the Federal Constitution,” he said.
Zuki said Jailani holds a doctorate from Hiroshima University, Japan, and brings 30 years of extensive experience in various key positions in the civil service.
His previous roles include stints as the deputy director-general of public services (operations) and the chief secretary of the rural development ministry.
The position of PSC chairman had been vacant for nearly 10 months after Zainal Rahim Seman’s tenure ended on July 24, 2023.
