Ahmad Jailani named Public Services Commission chairman

Effective today, Ahmad Jailiani Muhamed Yunus will fill the position that has been vacant for almost 10 months.

The appointment of Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus as chairman of the Public Services Commission is for a three-year period.
PETALING JAYA:
Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus has been appointed as the new chairman of the Public Services Commission (PSC), effective today.

Chief secretary Zuki Ali confirmed the appointment in a statement today.

“The appointment, sanctioned by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, is for a three-year term in accordance with Article 139(4) of the Federal Constitution,” he said.

Zuki said Jailani holds a doctorate from Hiroshima University, Japan, and brings 30 years of extensive experience in various key positions in the civil service.

His previous roles include stints as the deputy director-general of public services (operations) and the chief secretary of the rural development ministry.

The position of PSC chairman had been vacant for nearly 10 months after Zainal Rahim Seman’s tenure ended on July 24, 2023.
