KUALA LUMPUR: The power trip today at the LRT Kelana Jaya Line was due to internal tripping, said Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

“TNB’s power supply for the line is in good working condition.

“Hope this clarification clears any misunderstanding, if any, on the cause of the power failure,” said a TNB statement.

This morning, thousands of commuters were held up at several stations due to glitches in the signalling and communication system that delayed RapidKL LRT trains between the Ampang Park and Dang Wangi stations.

Kelana Jaya LRT Line Chief Operating Officer Ismail Abdullah said the glitches forced RapidKL to “power down the line” at several stations in the city centre to attend to the situation that occurred about 7am.

“Trains on the Kelana Jaya Line were shuttling between Putra Heights and Dang Wangi and between Gombak and Ampang Park.

“Buses were deployed to ferry commuters in need of alternate travel services from the Sri Rampai LRT station to the city centre and between KLCC and the city centre,” said Ismail in a statement to Bernama earlier today.

The LRT train services returned to normal at 1.15pm.
