The divorce came to public attention when a purported statutory declaration (SD) claimed that Gee had an affair with a senior Umno politician.
Augustin’s lawyer, S. Periasamy, confirmed the divorce after case management on Tuesday before High Court judge Justice Siti Mariah Ahmad.
“The marriage has been dissolved by consent, with immediate effect and we, the lawyers , are making a joint statement,” he said.
Gee’s lawyer Choo Dee Wei said Augustin and his client are “now on their own”.
He declined to get into details on how the couple reached an amicable divorce and on the management and/or division of matrimonial assets.
The former couple was not present.
Augustin, formerly a prosecutor, filed for divorce in 2014.
The couple were married on 24 April 2007 at the National Registration Department (JPN) in Putrajaya.
Augustin has three children from his previous marriage. Gee has two children from a previous marriage.
