
Penang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director (Operations) Azman Samsudin said the body was discovered by members of the public who lodged a report to the agency at 11.15am today.
“The highly decomposed naked body was handed over to the police and sent to the Penang Hospital (HPP) for post-mortem,” he said.
He appealed to those with missing family members to contact any nearest police station or the HPP mortuary.
Meanwhile, in Tanah Merah a Year Three schoolboy was found drowned after he was reported missing while swimming in a river in Kampung Belimbing Dalam here, yesterday.
Tanah Merah Fire and Rescue Department chief, Asst Supt Hanaffi Mohamad said the body of Muhammad Azeem Aznan, 9, a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing here was discovered by rescuers at 8.28am today, about 100 metres from the scene.
“The victim was believed to be bathing in the river (based on the discovery of his clothes and slippers) at the edge of the river,” he said when contacted here.
In Tumpat the body of a local man, believed to have been killed in a neighbouring country, was found in a boat near the Pisau Raut illegal base here, last night.
Kelantan police chief Ab Rahman Ismail said the 27-year-old victim’s body was discovered by his brother at 11pm just after receiving a call from an individual informing him that the body was at the illegal base.
