MACC to study contents of pen drive first

Investigations director Azam Baki says the anti-graft agency will only begin investigations if there is evidence of corruption and abuse of power in the pen drive's contents.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will first study the contents of the pen drive that was submitted by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today before taking any further action, says its investigations director Azam Baki.

He said apart from the contents, the authenticity of the pen drive would also be taken into account to determine whether there had been any tampering.

“If we find there is corruption and abuse of power in it (contents), then we will conduct an investigation,” he told Bernama here today.

Earlier today, the minister handed over the pen drive, purportedly containing 279 pages of evidence on alleged corruption in the Football Association of Malaysia.

Khairy when submitting the pen drive had requested the MACC to conduct a study and to review in detail whether the contents of the pen drive had been edited or otherwise.
