He also directed the Federal Territories ministry to offer PPR flats in Kuala Lumpur for sale via hire purchase to those who qualify, without requiring any deposit payment, according to Star Online.
The hire-purchase scheme was approved by the Cabinet last week and announced by housing minister Noh Omar, who said the scheme would begin in Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur and in two areas of Selangor
Speaking at the Lembah Pantai Umno division assembly here Sunday, he said he hoped the two measures could be implemented by beginning of next year, Star Online reported.
Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor told reporters later that he would meet Kuala Lumpur city hall officials tomorrow to work out the details.
Last week, Noh Omar had said the government had noted that many with incomes of less than RM2,500 a month could not qualify for bank loans to buy the flats. The hire-purchase scheme would give them the opportunity to own their houses.
The scheme will be extended to the whole country and is expected to help 4,000 families.
