MERSING:
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has warned that he will withdraw from any individual, the Datukship title conferred on them by his late father, if they fail to attend Hari Hol celebrations.

Hari Hol is a public holiday to mark Sultan Iskandar’s passing.

The Sultan said the absence of some of the recipients on Hari Hol showed that they did not care about spending time in remembrance of his father and therefore were not interested in the title given to them.

Therefore, he said, it would be better if the title conferred on them be destroyed or returned respectfully, as in the manner they received it.

“If not, I will announce the name of the recipient whose title has been retracted, regardless of whether he is a minister, general or former general.

“Action will be taken against recipients who fail to attend,” he said today at an event in conjunction with the 51st anniversary of the Special Forces Regiment at Iskandar Camp here.

Also present at the event were Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim; Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris; Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.

Hari Hol is observed on Nov 18 every year in Johor with tahlil (prayers) and a visit to the mausoleum of Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

In another development, Sultan Ibrahim who is also the Special Forces Regiment Colonel Commandant, cautioned commandos against involving themselves in drugs and extremist religious teachings.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are still serving or if you have retired. Maintain the Special Forces’ good name at all times.

“Show to society that commandos are highly disciplined and well-mannered,” he said.
