PETALING JAYA:
Police yesterday arrested a 19-year-old career criminal who has 14 previous cases on him, after he led them on a 10km high speed chase using a stolen lorry.

The Star Online said the incident happened about 10.15am when police detected an eight-tonne lorry, reported hijacked from Kulai, Johor, on the Kesas highway, near Subang Jaya.

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari reportedly told a press conference that patrol cars were dispatched to the scene, but attempts to flag down the suspect proved futile when he not only refused to stop, but rammed the lorry into the police cars several times.

He drove through the boom gate at the Kota Kemuning toll plaza, but crashed his vehicle soon after as he attempted to make a sharp turn near Shah Alam.

The teenager, who has 14 prior cases related to drugs, vehicle theft and possession of weapons, suffered a broken leg in the crash. He is also wanted for car theft in Petaling Jaya.

Police have handed the case to their Kulai counterparts.
