“The post of the speaker must be endorsed by the state assembly, of course the candidate is from us but the endorsement is from the assembly. From BN, of course I have to refer to the BN chairman, that is Datuk Seri Najib (Tun Razak).”
He said this to reporters after attending the Perak Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia’s Hari Raya do held in conjunction with the opening of the DWJ Commercial Complex and DWJ Residences@Meru here today.
The complex and residences with a total of 135 commercial lots and 100 apartment units were completed in May this year at a cost of RM52 million.
When asked if the candidate would be from MIC, Zambry refused to reveal further.
Devamany, who is also MIC deputy president, left the Speaker’s seat vacant after he was appointed as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in a Cabinet reshuffle on June 27.
