KUALA LUMPUR:
A man was fined RM2,500 by the Magistrate’s Court on Friday for posing as a policeman and attempting to enter Bukit Aman.

Besides impersonating a policeman, Mohd Amar Kamarul Rizal, 30, was also fined RM300, in default three months jail, by the same Magistrate’s Court, for possession of explosive materials in a suspicious manner.

The charge was under Section 8 of the Explosives Act.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som fined the former contractor after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public officer.

Amar paid the fines.

According to the facts of the case, Amar was in his vehicle when he was stopped at the main entrance of Bukit Aman.

The officer on duty at the headquarters’ main entrance, Fadzkihaimi Jamaludin, asked for his identification papers.

Amar claimed that he was a police officer from the Semenyih narcotics department transferred to Bukit Aman.

However, he failed to produce his identification papers when asked by Fadzkihaimi.

Checks conducted by Fadzkihaimi showed that he did not have any authority card. There were seven pieces of firecrackers in his car.

Amar was arrested.

Nur Farah Adilah Noordin appeared for the prosecution. Amar was not represented.
