PETALING JAYA:
Bangladesh has banned controversial Muslim preacher Dr Zakir Naik’s Peace TV Channel.

Bangladeshi English-language daily Dhaka Tribune reported the ban was the result of Zakir’s puported link to the Dhaka terror attack.

Zakir is also reportedly under probe in his country of origin India, with authorities threatening to take action against cable operators who air his Peace TV programmes.

His channel, which has been banned in India since 2012, reportedly has some 200 million viewers.

Zakir has come under severe criticism in both Bangaldesh and India after two militants in the Dhaka terror attack earlier this month, said they were inspired by the controversial preacher.

The attack left 22 people dead.
