SANDAKAN: A police pensioner had a shock of his life when he found a newborn baby boy with his umbilical cord still attached, wrapped in a yellow silk headscarf, on his farm at Batu 32 Jalan Labuk yesterday.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Zabidi Md Zain said the 64-year-old man heard a baby’s cries outside his house at about 9 pm.
He said when the man went out to investigate the cries, he saw his dog carrying something in its mouth.
When the man went to see what the dog was carrying, he found the newborn baby boy, who still had its umbilical cord and placenta attached, bundled up in the silk yellow headscarf, Zabidi told reporters here today.
He added that the man then brought the baby to the Beluran Hospital and a medical examination found it to be healthy.
Zabidi said no notes were found at the scene and the Social Welfare Department had been informed of the matter.
