Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer DSP Shafie Daud said the 39-year-old man was detained by a police patrol in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman at 10.45 pm.
“The police realised the presence of the suspect when the man, who was escorting the convoy, switched on the siren and beacon lights which were similar to those used by police personnel performing escort duties.
“The police also seized a 1600 cc Harley Davidson motorcycle worth RM155,000 with the word ‘POLICE’ at the front,” he told a media conference here today.
Shafie said preliminary investigation found the motorcycle, which had stickers ‘Las Vegas Metropolitan Police’ on its left and right sides, was registered under another individual and police would summon the owner to help in investigations.
He said the suspect, who was a part-time high-powered motorcycle salesman, was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station for further action.
“Police are hunting for two other individuals who drove a Toyota Alphard and Proton Preve who are believed to be involved in the illegal escort activity last night,” he said.
He said the individuals who were in the convoy were urged to come forward to help in the investigation.
