Woman loses car and RM4,500 in dash for cigarettes

Police say 59-year-old woman left her Toyota Innova on the road shoulder with the engine running

SETIU: A dash to a sundry shop for a packet of cigarettes cost a 59-year-old woman the loss of her car, RM4,500, cheque-book and identity card.

Police said the woman had carelessly left her Toyota Innova, with the engine running, on the road shoulder in Bandar Permaisuri, Kampung Apek, when she went to a sundry-shop for some cigatettes.

When she returned the car was gone, together with RM4,500, a cheque-book, jewellery pawn ticket and her identity card.

Setiu police chief Elias Abu Bakar said the theft happened at 2.30pm on Thursday. The woman lodged a report at Setiu police headquarters.
